If it’s fresh produce or homemade goodies you crave, you need travel no further than your local farmers market – and lucky for area residents, a market will be happening this year in every community in The Republic coverage area.
Farmers’ Markets are unique gatherings of vendors, often area residents, who offer a variety of homegrown and homemade items, including produce, baked goods, breads, soaps and beauty products, organic and alternative products, crafts, art, and more.
Alcester
A Farmers Market will be held every Tuesday in Alcester from 5 until 7 p.m. at the city park. There is no cost for vendors to participate – just bring your own supplies to set up along the sidewalk in the park.
A food truck will be on site at the markets through June, and possibly beyond, so area residents are encouraged to come shop for all kinds of goodies and to get dinner on Tuesdays in Alcester.
Wednesday nights, the action switches to Beresford and Hudson, when farmers markets will be happening in both communities.
Hudson
Hudson’s market runs Wednesdays 5:30 to 8 p.m. The first one of the season kicked off last week. The market, which is advertised to feature vegetables, breads, baked goods, eggs, handmade crafts, handywork, and more, takes place in the Serek lot on Main Street, Hudson.

Beresford
Beresford’s Farmers Market kicks off this weekend with a Smoked Meat Competition fundraiser for the Beresford Farmers Market, which is a nonprofit organization run by volunteers. The event takes place Saturday, May 31, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Vendors will be available alongside the competitors during the event.
Then, the official farmers market season in Beresford kicks off next Wednesday, June 4, from 5 until 7 p.m. in Bulow Park.
“We are welcoming more vendors at any time,” says Brandy Snell, one of the organizers of the market. “We lowered the fees for the season to $35. If a vendor doesn’t want to commit to the season, they can come when they want for $5 a week, up to the $35. After that, it’s free!”
Beresford’s Farmers Market community is hoping for a great turnout this year. Area residents will find all kinds of goodies available each week, from baked items and produce (when in season) to arts and crafts and other unique items.
Beginning June 11, the Beresford Area Arts’ Rock Wall concerts will begin at 7 p.m. with vendors offering food and other goodies to enjoy during the event.
