
Beresford High School is proud to present plans for this year’s Homecoming activities. Homecoming week is from September 22 – 27. This year’s theme is “Vinyl Vibes and Watchdog Pride: Decades.”
Senior students recently selected their Homecoming Royalty. Queen candidates are Kendra Ellis, Harley Koth, Ella Merriman, Addison Potter, and Tavyn Valder. King candidates are Payden Hoffman, Malachi James, Connor Neumayr, Tiegen Nyhaug, and Kasen Voss. The community is invited to come to the Beresford High School gym for coronation on Monday, September 22, to crown the BHS king and queen and to view the burning of the “V.”
The middle school and high school will participate in Class Olympics and other Homecoming activities on Wednesday, September 24, beginning at 1:00 p.m. On Thursday, September 25, we will continue Homecoming activities at 1:00 p.m. followed by a pep rally. The community is invited to come for the Community Pep Rally on Thursday, September 25, at 1:00 p.m. in the Beresford High School gym.
The week is also busy with activities outside of school.
On Monday, September 22, the Cross Country team will race at the Alcester-Hudson Cross Country Meet. On Tuesday, September 23, Middle School Volleyball will host Elk Point-Jefferson and Competition Cheer will head to Brandon Valley.
On Thursday, September 25, Middle School Volleyball will host Vermillion in the elementary school while High School Volleyball will match up against Elk Point-Jefferson in the high school gym. Also on Thursday, Cross Country will race at the Battle for the Ole Canteen in Elk Point-Jefferson.
On Friday, September 26, we host the annual Watchdog Marching Band Festival at 9:00 a.m. The Homecoming Parade will begin at 2:00 p.m., and the parade line-up starts at 1:15 p.m. We will dismiss middle and high school students at 12:50 p.m. After the parade, there will be a Watchdog Foundation Pork Loin BBQ Tailgate from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the Dog Bowl football game against the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies beginning at 7:00 p.m.
High school students will be celebrating Homecoming throughout the week with various themed dress up days. Students will kick off the adventure with “Mix Tape Monday.” Tuesday is “Twinning Tunesday.” Wednesday is “Way Back Wednesday.” Thursday will be “Class Color Day (e.g., seniors black, juniors white, sophomores pink, freshmen blue, teachers tie-dye). Friday remains “Spirit Day.”
Businesses and community members who wish to compete in the community window judging competition, please have your windows decorated by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24. The categories are Most Original, Best Theme, and Most Aesthetically Pleasing. Who will take the prime position this year by capturing the interest of our royal court judges? Businesses are encouraged to build a float and participate in the parade. Parade entries are encouraged to notify the high school office by noon on Thursday, September 18.
Finally, our Homecoming week ends with our annual Hall of Fame banquet and program on Saturday, September 27. To attend the banquet, you need to order a meal ticket. Each meal ticket is $35. Ticket orders are due by noon on Friday, September 12,. The 7:00 p.m. ceremony is open to the public (no ticket required).
