Comaraderie and experience are the strengths of the Alcester-Hudson Boys Basketball team this season.
Returning to the court are two seniors (Tommy Walth and Jacob Cole) and seven juniors (Evan Haak, Jackson Meyer, Andrew Bovill, Izaac Sommervold, Ethan Brown, Cole Ahart, and Logan Rodriquez). There are four returning letterwinners on the team: Walth, Cole, Haak, and Sommervold.
“Our Juniors and Seniors have played together since elementary school, so hopefully that will help during the season,” said Cubs Head Basketball Coach Grant Johnson. “Another strength is the strength and physicality this group has. They work hard in the off-season and it shows for them.”
Last year, the Cubs went 13-9, and this year, they are hoping to build off that success to post an even better record.
A challenge for the team is playing in a very competitive region.
“We have the state runner up and 5th place teams both in our region,” said Johnson.
Another challenge for the season is replacing three starters from last year.
“I think we have boys ready to step up,” said Johnson.
