Carla Craigle, 64, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will take place one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

Carla Jean Craigle was born April 4, 1961, in Minneapolis, MN. Carla grew up in a nomadic childhood. Her father worked for Boeing Aircraft, in a title that required the family to move from state to state nearly every year. Some schools she attended were in Rapid City, SD, Cheyenne, WY, and Great Falls, MT. Carla proudly graduated with highest honors earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, in 1995. Carla was always self-motivated and determined. In 1997, she, along with the support and partnership of her mother Verna Barker, opened up a private child support collection agency named Amerikids. This business became her dedication and cause, and she was able to help so many families during this time. In 2016, Amerikids was sold and she moved onto her next endeavors in life.

On October 3, 1980, her son, Roman Craigle, was born in Great Falls, MT. Her daughter, Amber Craigle, was born August 15, 1982, in Fort Riley, KS. Carla later became united in marriage with Kirk Hall in 1986. Soon after, the family moved to Sioux Center, IA, where they raised their children. Carla moved back to Sioux Falls, SD, in 1998 to be closer to her business, Amerikids. Years later, Carla married Charlie Azzara in Sioux Falls, SD.

Carla had a passion for anything that got her moving. She took amazing and memorable trips around the world with which she cherished to her last days. Carla had a true appreciation for the process of gardening. During those days, she enjoyed teaching, while letting her young granddaughters help in the garden, which will be memories cherished by all. She possessed the skill and knowledge for gardening but eventually her body just couldn’t handle it anymore. She recently had many projects she acquired that were on her refinishing list. She had a true talent for taking what many would consider a lost cause and transform it into a showpiece.

Carla passed after a hard-fought battle against heart failure. She was diagnosed five years ago, and we were all blessed with more time than we were told she would have. Carla was a fighter up to the day she passed.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Amber Holzapfel (Adam Vugteveen) of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Roman Craigle of Sioux Falls, SD; mother, Verna Barker of Centerville, SD; granddaughters, Lillian, Aidan, and Addison Holzapfel; brothers, Ronald Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Shawn (Stella) Carlson of Great Falls, MT; niece, Constance Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD; and nephews, Ronald Carlson III of Sioux Falls, SD, Derek (Lorrie) Carlson of Great Falls, MT, and Preston (Nareesin) Carlson of Thailand.

Carla was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Carlson; step-father, Jack Barker; and special friend, Charlie Azzara.
