The Alcester-Hudson Cubs defeated the Deubrook Dolphins 36-0 in first-round playoff action last Thursday, Oct. 23, at home. The Cubs now advance to the quarter semi-finals, to be played Thursday, Oct. 30.
In the first quarter, Tommy Walth had a four-yard rush for a TD. Darin Dykstra added two points on the conversion with a two-yard rush.
In the second quarter, Walth rushed for three yards and a TD. Later, Walth intercepted the ball for a 22-yard TD return, bringing the score to 20-0, Cubs.
In the third quarter, Jackson Meyer had a 100-yard kickoff return for the TD. Walth had a three-yard rush conversion for two points, Karzen Sommervold had a 32-yard rush TD, and Walth had a three-yard rush conversion to end the game 36-0.
Rushing leaders were Walth with 16 rushes for 105 yards and Dykstra with 10 rushes for 62 yards. Defensive leaders were Jackson Meyer and Jacob Cole with 4.5 tackles, Walth and Owen Serck with 4.0 tackles, and Sommervold with 3.5 tackles.
In quarter final action on Thursday, Oct. 30, the Cubs will take on the 8-2 Platte-Geddes at home. Come cheer on the Cubs at 7 p.m!
