Alcester-Hudson High School is producing a one-act play for the first time ever. The play is directed by Dr. Riva Sharples, who teaches two classes at Alcester-Hudson High School and is also editor of The Republic newspaper.
Dr. Sharples has entered the school into the competition because of how many students enjoy theatre in Alcester-Hudson, she said. The students will compete against six schools at the Class B Regional competition on Jan. 28. Two schools at that competition will move on to state competition in February.
The students are putting on the play, “13 Ways To Screw Up Your College Interview,” by Ian McWethy. The public performance of the play will be tomorrow, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. in the A-H Cafetorium. All are invited to attend!
This 45-minute comedy shows what happens when two college recruiters from a prestigious university attempt to fill one final spot in the incoming college class in order to keep their jobs. Unfortunately, 13 dim-witted and slightly-insane prospective students come in for an interview.
The seven students performing in this chaotic comedy are seniors Natalie Moore, Torrance Serck, Olivia Moore, and Lauren Meier and juniors Chase Ver Mulm, Jackson Steeneck, and Katelyn Patrick. Backstage help includes juniors Delilah Bowling, Emily Hoffman, and Danica Albaugh-Edgecomb.
Ver Mulm, who is playing a college interviewer, says he is excited for the competition and he believes the cast’s performance will offer stiff competition to other schools.
Come support the A-H students in this production by coming to the public performance tomorrow!
