Area residents are invited to enjoy “Hometown for the Holidays,” a week of holiday promotions and special events happening in Beresford, beginning this Saturday, Nov. 29.

Saturday is known as Small Business Saturday, a time nationwide when citizens are urged to support small and local shops. In Beresford, Saturday will kick off holiday deals at shops around town. A coloring contest for children will be held, and the decorating of downtown tree and planters will begin. Watch throughout the day and week as the decorations continue to grow downtown, culminating in a festive Friday celebration on Friday, Dec. 5.

By Friday, Dec. 5, downtown Beresford will be transformed into a holiday wonderland, with twinkling windows, festive shops, and plenty of deals to be found. At 5 p.m. on Friday, the town will officially light up as the big Christmas tree in the center of town comes to life, as well as many lights at downtown shops. Stroll through downtown, enjoying Christmas tunes playing while you enjoy the festive atmosphere. Festivities will continue with the Holiday Light Cruise later that night.

Saturday, Dec. 6, local shopping continues with plenty of festivities. Look for the carolers who will be strolling the streets and shops, entertaining with holiday tunes. And it is rumored that Santa will be in town from 1 until 3 p.m. to visit with local kids.

“Join us as we celebrate community, kindness, and Christmas cheer all week long,” said Shania Rozeboom, spokesperson for the Beresford Chamber of Commerce, which is organizing the event. “Come Hometown for the Holidays!”
