The 5th annual Chili Cook-off sponsored by the Beresford Farmers Market will take place next Saturday, August 30, at the Lions Shelter at Bulow Park.
Area residents are encouraged to plan to stop by to sample the delicious eats, and area cooks are encouraged to enter a favorite chili recipe in the competition. There is no fee to participate, be it as cook or consumer.
“Each year, we invite the community to join us in putting together their best chili recipe and sharing that with others,” said Brandi Snell, one of the volunteers who runs the Beresford Farmers Market. “Participants can enter for free and will receive a gift basket of goodies.”
The various chilis will be available and ready to sample between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 30. The chili cook-off is an event that helps bring the Beresford Farmers Market season to a close.
“Everyone is welcome to come try some chili and vote for their favorite,” said Snell. “At the end of the market at 1 p.m., we count up the votes and announce the winner of the cook-off!”
There is no cost to sample the chili. Those who attend can choose to leave a free will offering if they wish.
“If people feel led to give, we are truly appreciative,” said Snell. “The Beresford Farmers Market is a non-profit organization that is run by board members. We are all volunteers and enjoy putting the market on. It’s one of our greatest passions! All proceeds from the chili cook-off event go towards advertising and keeping our vendor fees low. We truly enjoy having a farmers market in Beresford and are very thankful that we have the opportunity!”
Mark your calendars now, and get ready to come enjoy some fabulous chili next Saturday, August 30!
