Last Saturday’s first-ever Summertime Wonderland Pageant was a great success with four area youth earning the titles of Miss Christmas, Miss Blizzard, Miss Candycane, and Miss Tinsel.
Winning the coveted titles were: Raelyn Thompson as Miss Christmas, Reyna Kingma as Miss Blizzard, Hatta Serck as Miss Candycane, and Paislee Wickre as Miss Tinsel.
“Every single contestant truly shined today, and we could not be more grateful for the incredible turnout,” said Pageant organizer Paxtyn Moller. “From the very first rehearsal to the final moments on stage, these girls showed the true heart of pageantry, lifting each other up, clapping the loudest for their friends, and encouraging one another every step of the way!”
The Summertime Wonderland Pageant was the brainchild of teenage sisters Emma and Paxtyn Moller and friend Izzac Sommervold, who were hoping to encourage volunteerism and community involvement through the pageant. The event benefited the non-profit organization, Santa & Mrs. C’s Kids, by crowning some queens to serve as “helpers” for the nonprofit organization Santa & Mrs. C’s Kids at upcoming holiday events happening through December. Each new queen is asked to volunteer at least 10 hours in the community this fall and to help spread Christmas cheer as December approaches.
Last Saturday’s pageant was about more than wearing a crown, say organizers. For all the contestants who participated, “it was about learning poise, grace, confidence, and the joy of celebrating others’ successes as much as your own” they said.
The Mollers and Sommervold say they are proud of every contestant who participated in the day.
“To every young lady who had the courage to walk across that stage, you are each beautiful inside and out, and we are so proud of you,” they said.
The Summerland Wonderland Pageant was sponsored by Horizon Health, Premier Bank, Loren Schroeder, Hillary Terpstra, 905 Arrangements, Karla Bovill Photographs, and Booth Pharmacy.
With the first annual pageant event now completed, the Mollers and Sommervold now turn their attention to their next big community project: the Royal Ball, a magical evening of dancing and fun for youth that premiered last year. This year’s ball will be held on October 25. Follow the Summertime Wonderland Pageant and Royal Ball on Facebook for more information.
