Girls 4-3, Boys move to 4-4 on the season

It’s been an exciting week of basketball for the Alcester-Hudson Cubs, with the boys and girls teams winning some huge battles, while also falling to tough opponents. The girls are now 4-3 on the season with the boys sporting a 4-4 record thus far.

On the girls side, the team fell to Avon on Jan. 6 by a score of 19 – 57. The girls went on last Friday, Jan. 9, to defeat Canistota 59 – 58 with a nail-biting one-point victory. The team fell to Chester on Jan. 10 by a score of 41 – 56.

On the boys side, the Cubs defeated Avon 68 – 52 that included an exciting dunked basket by AH junior Andy Bovill. That game took place on Jan. 6.

Statistically, the team was impressive during that game as well, with senior Jacob Cole leading scorers with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Evan Haak contributed 11 points and 3 rebounds, while Izzac Sommervold had 9 points and 7 rebounds and Bovill contributed 9 points and 3 rebounds. Rounding out scoring for the Cubs during the Avon game were Cole Ahart with 8, Tommy Walth with 5, Ethan Brown with 5, and Jackson Meyer with 3.

The boys went on to defeat Canistota on Friday, Jan. 9, 47-35. They were defeated by Chester on Saturday, Jan. 10, 54 – 46.
