Homecoming week in Beresford is half-way complete, and it’s been a great week of festivities so far. At school, students have been having great fun with dress up days under the theme of “Vinyl Vibes & Watchdog Pride,” which is all about music through the decades.

The week kicked off under this groovy theme Monday night with coronation, where seniors Malachi James and Ella Merriman were crowned the 2025 BHS Homecoming King & Queen. Other members of the Homecoming Court included Kendra Ellis, Payden Hoffman, Harley Koth, Connor Neumayr, Tegan Nyhaug, Addison Potter, Taryn Valder, and Kasen Voss.

After an evening of skits and fun in the gym that was decked out in vinyl decor, students enjoyed the traditional burning of the “V.”

Tuesday, elementary students got in on the fun, enjoying a pep fest with the BHS cheerleaders and dance team, and the Royal Court joined elementary students for lunch. PowderPuff Football and Iron Man Volleyball entertained the crowds in the evening.

Of course, area businesses got into the spirit of Homecoming this week too by decorating their windows. The Homecoming Court toured the town on Wednesday to pick out their favorite window displays.

Today, Thursday, Sept. 25, Homecoming festivities will continue with a pep rally from 1 until 2 p.m., followed by Class Olympics. Friday, downtown Beresford will be busy as the Watchdog Marching Band Festival takes place beginning at 9 a.m. Come watch dozens of bands show off their skills!

Then, at 2 p.m. Friday, don’t miss the Homecoming parade. Afterward, enjoy festivities throughout town, including free hot dogs at Fyzical, free root beer floats at Jensen Insurance & Real Estate, and the Watchdog Foundation community tailgate (free will donation), which begins at 5 p.m. at the stadium and runs until kick-off of the football game at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Homecoming Week festivities wrap up with the Watchdog Foundation Hall of Fame banquet at 6 p.m. Come watch the induction of this year’s candidates into the Hall of Fame at 7 p.m. To read about this year’s inductees, turn to our Homecoming section elsewhere in this paper.

For students, Homecoming Week will conclude with a dance on Saturday night at 9 p.m. Happy Homecoming, Watchdogs!
