Hudson Community Celebration and 2025 Alumni Reunion happens this weekend

It’s been a rough few months for folks in Hudson, but they aren’t going to let storm damage, sewer repair work, or other inconveniences stop them from celebrating. On Saturday, Sept. 6, community members, friends, family, and alumni will gather in Hudson for a day of fun and activities.

Events will kick off at 10:30 a.m. with the Classic Show and Shine show. All vehicles, tractors, motorcycles, bicycles, and more are welcome to participate in this free event that runs until 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, when you’re hungry, head to the Hudson Fire Department, where they’ll be grilling up hot dogs and hamburgers for a free will donation meal between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Afterward, catch your dessert at the free ice cream and popcorn social in the Premier Bank Parking Lot happening between 1-2 p.m. and 2:30-3 p.m.

Don’t forget to stop by the Historical Hudson Boy Scout cabin for the free open house from noon to 1 p.m. Unfortunately, the popular Walk Down Memory Lane, planned to happen at the Hudson Historical Room, will NOT be happening this year due to storm damage on the library roof. Memorabilia is currently in totes for safekeeping.

“Our water sewer project has our streets in the downtown area torn up right now, too,” said Roxanne Wickre. “This certainly will be a year to remember. But next year should be better!”

Luckily, the parade will go on. Line-up for the parade begins at 1:15 p.m., starting behind the community center. Call Russ at 605-670-2858 or John Anderson, 605-984-2424, for parade entry. It will be a new, creative and different route thanks to the sewer project in town.

At 2 p.m., the Hudson Parade officially heads through town.

After the parade, it’s time to socialize. Enjoy free coffee and cookies at Buckaroo’s, then head down the street to watch the Hudson Fire Department Water Fights at 4 p.m. Kids can get in on the Kids Water Fights. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m.

Socialization moves to the Hudson Community Center at 5 p.m. for social hour before a welcome, thank you’s, and announcements at 6 p.m. prior to the banquet that runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Social time with friends and family follows from 8:30 until 10 p.m.

The HHS Alumni Committee invites all HHS graduates, A-H graduates after 1985, spouses of past alumni, former students, teachers, and staff members, and members of the Hudson community to attend the banquet and all parts of the day. Call or text Jim at 712-578-9712 to get your meal ticket.
