Joanne was born May 8, 1947, the second of three children, to Hans and Ardella Johnson.
Summers were spent getting ready for Achievement Days and driving a tractor to help harvest hay for her dad. While in high school Joanne worked at Marv’s Drive Inn.
Graduating from BHS in 1965, she went on to Nettleton College in Sioux Falls. After graduation Joanne worked for Prudential Insurance and Lumbermans Supply. It was during that time that she met her future husband. She moved to Seattle in 1973. Gary and Joanne were married December 17th, 1977, later becoming parents to their son Gregory.
Joanne worked at the Naval Shipyard and Great Northwest Savings and Loan in Bremerton, WA. She had most recently worked for the Kitsap County Crisis Center before her retirement. She was a Mary Kay consultant for many years and gained many friendships over that time.
Joanne was an avid reader and shared that passion with her mom and sister, who both loved getting the book boxes in the mail.
Joanne broke her hip in Dec and had recovered, but suffered a series of complications in the months to come.
Joanne passed away at home on August 14th.
She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Vernon.
She leaves her husband and son, younger sister Marjorie, along with brothers and sisters in law, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
