Joseph Berst, Jr. passed away on October 15, 2025, at Snohomish, Washington, from complications of advanced dementia. He was born on February 16, 1943, in Tacoma, Washington, to Joseph Berst, Sr. and Evelyn Ann (Williams) Berst who both preceded him in death. He graduated from Snohomish High School with the Class of 1961 and after a short stint in the Air Force, he became a long-haul truck driver traveling throughout the United States for over 50 years. He lived most of his life in South Dakota when not on the road. Burial will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
Joe is survived by his brother Bill of Snohomish; sister Debbie (Carl) Cottonware of Powell, Wyoming; daughter Jeanna Berst of Wenatchee, Washington; grandson Tony Berst of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
The family also wishes to recognize the commitment shown to Joe by his long-time partner, Gail Snoozy of Beresford, South Dakota. We also wish to acknowledge all the people at Snohomish Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia for the fine care given to Joe.
