The Beresford high school baseball team scored two late runs to tie the game and then had a big eighth inning to help them to an 8-4 win over Parker on Monday, May 12th. The win evened their season record to 7-7.
After a scoreless first inning, Parker scored a single run in both the bottom of the second and third innings for a 2-0 lead. Beresford got a run in the top of the fourth and another in the top of the fifth to tie the game 2-2. Parker took the lead again with a two-run bottom of the sixth, 4-2.
Beresford took advantage of a walk, two hit batters, and a couple of wild pitches in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded and one out, J Adams scored on a wild pitch. The tying run thrown out at the plate for the second out. Cooper Nelson kept the inning alive with a single moving Ashton Oberle to third. Oberle would score on another wild pitch to tie the game 7-7 with two outs. Parker was unable to score in the seventh, and the game went to extra innings. Beresford scored on two passed balls, an RBI single by Oberle, and a balk for an 8-4 lead.
Nelson had two hits in the game. Oberle had a single with two RBIs. Jax Fickbohm had a single. Ethan Bovill pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits and six walks with five strikeouts. Oberle pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
