The goal of this year’s second-annual Royal Ball, held last Saturday, Oct. 25, was to be bigger than last year, and we are happy to report, this year’s ball blew last year’s numbers away.

“We had about 100 kids and around 350 people in attendance between the grand march, dinner, and dance,” said Paxtyn Moller, a main organizer of the event.

The Royal Ball was started last year by sister Emma and Paxtyn Moller as a way to raise money and donations for the Alcester charity Santa & Mrs. C’s Kids. Emma is now is college but participated this year in the background. Paxtyn brought on Izzac Sommervold to help her spearhead the event, alongside help from FCCLA members and friends as well.

This year’s event raised a lot of money and toys for a good cause.

“Between the sponsors, silent auction, live auction, and free will donations, we will be able to write a check to Santa and Mrs C Kid’s for over $5,000!” said Izzac. “On top of that, we were also able to donate over 150 toys.”

In addition to raising money for Santa and Mrs. C’s Kids, the purpose of the Royal Ball is to model volunteer work and to encourage younger kids to get involved in the community.

“I was so excited to bring Izzac on this year,” said Paxtyn. “He just has an amazing heart and from the first meeting he got what it was all about, teaching the younger generation that volunteering and giving back is rewarding and fun. … It is humbling, seeing all these amazing families come and support our event. Seeing all these kids not only have a great time, but get why they were there, to give back and help others is great!”

Both wish to thank all those who made the Royal Ball a success again this year.

“We want to thank our amazing sponsors, partners, and volunteers,” said Izzac. “Without all of you, none of it would have been possible. To all the families that came out, thank you, thank you, thank you! We are both still in awe of the support.”
