On Wednesday, November 5, the Morningside Event Center in Alcester was filled with gratitude and community spirit as area senior citizens enjoyed a special meal in celebration of the season of giving thanks. In addition to serving meals in person, the event provided to-go meals through meals on wheels for home-bound seniors delivered by the Lions Club. The meal was prepared by Alcester-Hudson Food Service staff with financial support from the Lions Club, Student Council, and the Alcester-Hudson School Board.

A-H Superintendent Tim Rhead offered a warm welcome, followed by a prayer led by an area pastor. Throughout the event, members of the Alcester-Hudson FFA and FCCLA chapters greeted and served the senior guests. FCCLA servers included Officers Michaela Kingma, Emmalyn Zuraff, Ayonna Schissel, Delta Pies, Madalie Wielenga, Malia Kingma, and Paxtyn Moller with members Lainey Day, Alexis Miiller, Skylar Hongslo and Aubrey Braaten.

FFA Greeters/Servers included Officers Andrew Bovill, Cole Ahart and Adam Fickbohm and members Jackson Meyer, Elsie Bovill and Leah Solberg.

“This event is a way for us to give back to the senior citizens who have long supported our community,” said Hillary Terpstra, FCCLA Adviser. “It’s an opportunity to connect, share a meal, and show our appreciation during this special time of year. The event fosters a spirit of connection, with students gaining valuable experience in community service while honoring local seniors. Whether served in person or delivered to their homes, each meal was a symbol of gratitude and the giving spirit of the season. We hope that the meal filled the hearts and stomachs of many senior citizens and showed our appreciation and gratitude for the support they provide to our communities.”
