Stay informed with a subscription to The Republic

Community newspapers like The Republic play an important role in small town life. The newspaper is a place where news and information is shared. Joys and triumphs are celebrated and tragedies are mourned. The paper covers school news, city council happenings, churches and organizations, area businesses, and all the entities that make our communities a great place to live.

But newspapers don’t just inform and entertain us today; they are an important record for the future as well. A century from now, it is the local newspaper archives that will tell our stories and history for future generations.

The newspaper can’t be beat by social media platforms. Don’t get me wrong – social media has its place in society as an immediate way of reaching our personal circles of friends, family, and neighbors. But no matter how wide one’s circle is, social media doesn’t have the community-wide reach of a newspaper, or the ability to summarize and preserve history in a concise and easily accessible way for the future.

If you don’t subscribe to The Republic yet, I encourage you to do so today! Stay informed and be a witness to history. Subscribe for just $37 per year (that’s only 71 cents per issue).
