The Beresford Watchdogs hit the road Friday night, Oct. 10, to take on the Sioux Valley Cossacks in a tough away matchup, falling 46–6 in Volga. Despite the score, the Watchdogs showed grit and determination on both sides of the ball, continuing to play with heart until the final whistle.

Quarterback Ashton Oberle led the offensive effort, throwing for 101 yards on 19 attempts. Oberle connected with Hayden Schilling on a 9-yard touchdown pass — Beresford’s lone score of the evening. Schilling was a reliable target throughout the night, finishing with 5 receptions for 43 yards, while Tiegan Nyhaug added 3 catches for 57 yards, helping the Watchdogs move the chains against a tough Cossack defense.

Defensively, Cam Mullinix anchored the unit, recording 7 solo tackles and 5 assists, while Ian Henderson contributed 5 solo stops and 3 assists. The Watchdogs continued to fight on every down, showing effort and teamwork.

“It just wasn’t our night,” said a Watchdog coach after the game. “But our guys kept competing, and that’s what we’re proud of.”

The Watchdogs will look to regroup and bounce back next week as they travel to Flandreau to take on the Fliers in the regular season finale.
