Cubs Softball takes third at State B Tournament

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs softball team finished third at the 2025 South Dakota State B Softball Tournament held in Aberdeen Thursday, June 5, through Saturday, June 7.

Alcester-Hudson 11
Florence/Henry 3
In the opening round of the tournament, the Cubs went on a rally in the middle innings. After a scoreless first inning, Alcestser-Hudson got a run in the bottom of the first. They added four runs in the third and four more in the fourth for 9-0 lead. Both teams scored two runs in the sixth inning, and the Cubs led 11-2 going into the final inning. Florence/Henry scored one run in the top of the seventh.
Jenna Manning finished with three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Emma Molller had a home run and a single with four RBIs. Delta Pies added two hits, one a home run, and one RBI . Emma Solberg also had two hits, one a double and an RBI. Lexi Miller and Paxtyn Moller each had a hit. Jaeley Christensen ended with an RBI. E. Moller pitched seven innings and allowed three runs, all unearned, on four hits and one walk with 14 strikeouts.

Deuel 2
Alcester-Hudson 1
The Cardinals and Cubs battled hard in the semifinals on Friday. Deuel broke a scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Pies hit an RBI double in the top of the third for the Cubs to tie the game 1-1. The score remained 1-1 until the bottom of the fifth. The Cardinals took the lead 2-1 after scoring on an error.
Pies had two hits, one a double, with an RBI. Laney Decker had a double and a single. P. Moller finished with two hits. E. Moller also had a hit. E. Moller threw six innings inning and allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts.

Alcester-Hudson 4
Mobridge-Polllock 1
In the 3rd/4th place game on Saturday, the Cubs scored three times in the bottom of the first against Mobridge-Pollock, which is all they needed. Alcester-Hudson continued to lead 3-0 until the top of fifth. The Tigers scored a run in the inning to make the score 3-1. The Cubs added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-1 advantage.
E. Moller had two singles with two RBIs. Pies added a double and an RBI. Manning ended with a single and an RBI. P. Moller had a double, and Christensen had a single. E. Moller pitched seven innings and allowed an unearned run on four hits with 11 strikeouts.
