In recent Amateur Baseball play, the Beresford Blues won one and lost another. Here’s the report.
Loss to Larchwood June 19
The Larchwood Diamonds got a big 23-1 win over the Beresford Blues on Thursday, June 19. Larchwood belted 24 hits in the game.
The Diamonds put 11 runs on the board in the top of the first. Beresford got their lone run in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Sam Thorson. The Diamonds got another run in the top of the second. After a scoreless third inning, Larchwood scored two in the fourth and nine more in the fifth.
Thorson finished with a double and an RBI. Mike Chartier had the only other hit for the Blues, a triple. Isaak Reed pitched four innings and allowed 14 runs, 13 earned, on 16 hits and four walks with three strikeouts. Logan Serck threw one inning and allowed nine runs, three earned, on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
Win over Elk Point Colt .45s June 15
The Beresford Blues held off the Elk Point Colt .45s for a 5-4 win on Sunday, June 15.
Beresford got a run in the bottom of the first for an early 1-0 lead. Elk Point tied the game with a run in the top of the second. The Blues would get two runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the third for a 5-1 lead. Elk Point scored three times in the top of the sixth to pull within a run, 5-4, but the Blues held strong for the win.
Mike Chartier had a triple and single with three RBIs. Brandon Ruud had two hits. Matt Sisk, Sam Thorson, Ryan Flores, and Hunter Cotton all had one hit each. Sisk pitched seven innings and allowed four earned runs on 11 hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
