
Ashton Oberle collected three hits in four at bats, as Beresford Post 72 Jr. Legion defeated Lennox 19-3 on Tuesday, June 24. Oberle doubled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
Beresford opened the scoring in the first after Evan Haak doubled, scoring one run.
Lennox took the lead in the bottom of the first. Kasen Voss induced Issac Vietor to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, to give Lennox the leg up, 2-1.
Post 72 flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring nine runs on five hits to take the lead, 10-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Ian Henderson that drove in two.
Beresford added to its early lead in the top of the third inning when Oberle drew a walk, scoring one run. Charlie Eide singled, scoring two runs, and Noah Hansen induced Lucas Anderson to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Voss earned the win for Beresford. The right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking one.
Beresford accumulated 12 hits in the game. Haak and Oberle were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits. Haak provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Beresford with four runs batted in. The hitter went 3-for-3 on the day. Henderson collected two hits for Post 72 in four at bats. Beresford had patience at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game. Ethan Bobzin and Eide led the team with two bases on balls each.
