Blues fall to Vermillion Red Sox, Garretson

The Beresford Blues suffered a 12-6 loss to the Vermillion Red Sox on Friday, June 27, in Vermillion.
The Red Sox scored two runs in the bottom of the first. They added another run in the bottom of the third for a 3-0 lead. Vermillion kept adding to the lead by scoring four in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-0. Beresford had a big six-run seventh inning to cut the lead to 9-6. The Red Sox pulled away with two runs in the bottom of the seventh and one more in the eighth.
Kolby Schiefen had two hits and a single. Logan Serck and Zach Boden both had two hits each. Zach Gass and Brandon Ruud both had a single and an RBI. Payton Borah also had a hit. Logan Serck pitched eight innings and allowed 12 runs, eight earned, on 12 hits and six walks with 10 strikeouts.

Blues blanked by Garretson

The Beresford Blues were blanked by the Garretson Blue Jays 11-0 on Tuesday, July 1.
Garretson scored two runs right away in the top of the first inning. They added four more in the top of the third for a 6-0 lead. The score remained 6-0 until the sixth. The Blue Jays got a run in the top of the sixth and four more in the top of the seventh. The game ended on the 10-run rule after seven innings.
Beresford was held to just four hits in the game. Brandon Ruud, Sam Thorson, Brad Christensen, and Hunter Cotton all had one single each. Logan Serck pitched all seven innings and allowed 11 runs, nine earned, on 15 hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
