The Beresford Blues snapped a five-game skid with a 6-2 win over Akron on Thursday, July 10.
The Blues scored the first six runs of the game. Sam Thorson had a solo home run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead. Izaak Reed and Brandon Ruud both had RBI singles in the bottom of the second, and Reed scored on an error to push the lead to 4-0. Andrew Halling scored on a wild pitch, and Jax Fickbohm had an RBI single in the third to give Beresford a 6-0 advantage. Akron got a run in the top of the fourth and another in the top of the seventh.
Thorson finished with a double and home run with an RBI. Zach Boden had two hits. Ruud ended with a single and two RBIs. Reed and Fickbohm both had a single with an RBI each. Halling and Mike Chartier each had a double. Logan Serck pitched seven innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.
