The Beresford 14U baseball team used one big inning to help them to an 8-1 win over Vermillion at home on Wednesday, July 9. The win was the sixth in a row for Beresford.
Vermillion took the lead in the top of the third, 1-0, after two scoreless innings. Bo Eide scored on a dropped third strike play in the bottom of the third to tie the game. Max Kinney delivered the game winning hit in the bottom of the fourth. His RBI single made the score 2-1, but Beresford added six more runs in the inning for an 8-1 score.
Eide had two hits in the game. Kinney and Evan Rosheim both had a single with an RBI. Karzen Sommervold and Mason Hofer each had one hit. John Savey ended with an RBI. Savey pitched a gem, throwing seven innings while allowing one earned run on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
Wins over Elk Point-Jefferson
The Beresford 14U baseball team won a pair of games against Elk Point-Jefferson on Wednesday, July 2. They cruised to big wins in both games.
Beresford 15, Elk Point-Jefferson 2
Beresford scored the first 11 runs of the game. They plated five runs in the bottom of the first, two in the second, and four more in the third for an 11-0 lead. Elk Point-Jefferson scored one time in the top of fourth, but Beresford added four more in the bottom of the fourth. Elk Point-Jefferson got one more run in the top of the fifth before the game ended on the 10-run rule.
Evan Rosheim had four hits with an RBI. Max Kinney added two singles and an RBI. John Savey, Bentley Schurch, Boston Jensen, and Garrison Zweifel all had a hit with two RBIs. Bo Eide, Mason Hofer, and Camdyn Meester each added a hit. Karzen Sommervold had two RBIs. Rosheim pitched four innings and allowed one unearned run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Savey pitched one inning and allowed an unearned run on two walks.
Beresford 16, Elk Point-Jefferson 0
In the second game, Beresford used a huge second inning to get the big win in three innings on the 15-run rule. Beresford had three runs in the bottom of the first, but then scored 13 times in the bottom of the second. The game ended after Elk Point-Jefferson went scoreless in the top of the third.
Eide had a triple, double, and single with six RBIs in the game. Jensen finished with a triple and two RBIs. Kinney had a single and two RBIs. Schurch added a double. Zweifel had a single and an RBI. Rosheim and Hofer each had an RBI. Three different pitchers held Elk Point-Jefferson to just one hit. Zweifel allowed one walk in one inning. Jensen gave up a hit and two walks with one strikeout in his inning. Sommervold also pitched an inning and allowed a walk with three strikeouts.
