For five days next week, it’s all about old-fashioned food, family, and fun during Beresford’s annual Old Fashioned Weekend celebration. Events begin Wednesday, July 23, and run through Sunday, July 27.
The celebration kicks off Wednesday with a special edition of the Beresford Area Farmers Market, happening 5-7 p.m., and a unique offering for the weekly concert series in the park sponsored by the Beresford Area Arts. The concert, beginning at 7 p.m., will feature all local talent homegrown in the Beresford area. Bring your lawn chairs and come kick off Old Fashioned Weekend by enjoying the great singing talent Beresford has to offer.
On Thursday, the celebration continues with a community grill-out at the Senior Center. All are welcome for this event, which happens from 5-7 p.m. After you’ve digested the delicious meal, head over to the park with your blankets and chairs to enjoy a free, outdoor movie.
Friday, the fun continues with tours of vintage cars at the Olde 77 Museum from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., as well as the Chamber Golf Tournament at Bridges of Beresford. Kids and parents won’t want to miss the Kids’ Bike Rodeo and Safety event happening in the Lewis Drug parking lot from 5:30 – 7 p.m. alongside the Fire Department’s BBQ fundraiser at the nearby fire hall. Then, gather at 7 p.m. at the fire hall to watch water fights put on by the Beresford Fire Department.
It will be good, old fashioned fun for the entire family, say celebration organizers.
Saturday is when the schedule really gets busy for Old-Fashioned Weekend. The shotgun start for the Klassix Golf Tournament will happen at 9 a.m.
Meanwhile, the park will be the place to be, starting around 10 a.m. Enjoy vendors, kiddie train rides, inflatables, food trucks and more until 4 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your suit for free swimming at the Beresford Pool from 1 until 5 p.m.
When you’ve had enough fun at the park, take a break and head to D.A.D.S. Repair for a car show from 12:30 until 3:30 p.m. A burnout contest will take place at 6 p.m.
Head downtown in the evening at 7 p.m. to step back in time for an old-fashioned cruise night. Watch those in vintage and modern vehicles enjoying the art of cruising down 3rd Street. Or jump in your own favorite vehicle and take a spin around downtown. Community members will gather, talk, and enjoy food and drink while cruising.
Old-Fashioned Days will close out for the 2025 year on Sunday, July 27, with a pancake feed at the Senior Center from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. A tractor pull beginning at noon is the final event of the celebration.
